Dear Daniel Kim and the World Mission Society of God Trust Team,
Thank you for your email received on 5th August. I was delighted to hear about your recent rubbish clean‐up in Mangere parks. I am writing to express my sincere appreciation and thanks, and I have seen the photos of the rubbish you collected.
I find it personally concerning to hear about illegal rubbish dumping and often see the evidence of rubbish that collects in our parks, streams, and harbours. You may be aware that I am a keen supporter and advocate of Sea Cleaners, this is a company who tirelessly clean up the rubbish and plastics in our harbours. Improving the health and quality of our beautiful harbours and the environment is one of my top mayoral priorities, and I am pleased to hear that your organisation on this occasion, and previously, have pulled in tonnes of rubbish for disposal.
I am impressed by the way your group repeatedly organises large‐scale community clean‐ups in
many of our southern local parks. As Auckland continues to grow, we are all need to be mindful of the additional demand we are placing on our natural resources and infrastructure (such as parks and natural areas) and thanks to the thoughtful work of volunteers such as yourselves, we can stay on top of the issue.
Thank you for taking the initiative to clean our environment, your contributions are acknowledged, and I am proud of the work you do. I look forward to continuing collaboration and supporting your future clean up initiatives.
Ngā mihi,
(Signiture)
MAYOR OF AUCKLAND
