CITY OF ALBANY, NEW YORK

WHEREAS: ASEZ (Save the Earth from A to Z) is a global network of passionate and dedicated university student volunteers, formed under the auspices of the World Mission Society Church of God. Founded by Ahnsahnghong in 1964, the Church has grown into a dynamic and influential organization, with over 3.7 million registered members across 7,500 locations in 175 countries, all united by a common mission to serve humanity and care for the planet; and


WHEREAS: The Church of God, through the unwavering devotion and selfless service of its members, continues to exemplify the teachings of Christ through action, fostering love, compassion, and unity. ASEZ, as an integral part of this movement, Icads by example, implementing and organizing a multitude of impactful community initiatives that not only improve lives but inspire individuals to embrace their responsibility as global citizens. These initiatives range from environmental cleanups and blood donation drives to social welfare programs. smile campaigns, and disaster relief efforts-demonstrating the power of collective action to address pressing global challenges; and


WHEREAS: On this auspicious occasion of UN Zero Waste Day, the Church of God renews its steadfast commitment to promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. By encouraging individuals, communities, and nations to reduce waste, minimize their ecological footprints, and adopt sustainable practices, the Church of God plays a pivotal role in advancing the United Nations' global environmental goals. Through the efforts of ASEZ, we are reminded that every small action when multiplied across the globe-can contribute to a monumental shift toward a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable planet for future generations;


WHEREAS: We recognize the profound impact the Church of God has had on inspiring change within communities worldwide, including right here in the Albany Capital Region. Through ASEZ's leadership and vision, residents are being empowered to embrace sustainability, volunteerism, and a shared commitment to social responsibility. Their work serves as a beacon of hope and a powerful reminder that each of us has a role to play in building a better world, whether through conserving resources, helping those in need, or fostering a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect; and


WHEREAS: The initiatives championed by ASEZ-through tireless dedication, inspiring leadership, and unshakable faith— continue to light the way for individuals everywhere who are striving to create a positive, lasting impact on both the environment and society. Their work reflects the true spirit of selflessness and the boundless potential of young people working together for the common good;


NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kathy M. Sheehan, Mayor of the City of Albany, New York do hereby proclaim Sunday, March 30, 2025 to be:


"ASEZ on UN Zero Waste Day"


in the City of Albany and ask residents to proudly honor and deeply acknowledge the outstanding contributions of the Church of God and ASEZ. Through their unwavering commitment to creating a more compassionate, sustainable, and service-driven world, they continue to inspire and mobilize communities around the globe, transforming lives and laying the groundwork for a brighter future for all.
